“In the beginning
God created the heavens and the earth.[1] “God created man in His
own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.[2] “Then the Lord God took
the man and put him into the garden of Eden to cultivate it and keep it. The
Lord God commanded the man, saying, "From any tree of the garden you may
eat freely; but from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not
eat, for in the day that you eat from it you will surely die.[3] “When the woman saw that
the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the
tree was desirable to make one wise, she took from its fruit and ate; and she
gave also to her husband with her, and he ate. Then the eyes of both of them
were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves
together and made themselves loin coverings”.[4]
Ever-since the first man (Adam) and the first
woman (Eve) ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil all have sinned
and fall short of the glory of God.[5]
You cannot cover your sin as Adam and Eve attempted to do, because the
wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus
our Lord.[6] “For
God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever
believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”[7]
He was handed over, because of our transgressions; He died for our sins,
and He was buried, and He was raised on the third day, because of our
justification.[8]
Therefore, the righteousness of God has been manifested to the one who has
faith in Jesus.[9]
