Have you prayed today for God’s name, for God’s kingdom, for God’s will, for your needs, for your debts, for your debtors and for your deliverance? These seven, Jesus taught his disciples to pray. (Mt 6:9-13) What is the name of God? The name of God is the nature of God, it is a representative of God. For this reason, Jesus could pray to the Father God, “Holy Father, keep them in Your name, the name which You have given Me, that they may be one even as We are.” (Jn 17:11, NASB) He is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of God’s nature, (Heb 1:3) who became flesh and dwelt amongst us; (Jn 1:14) therefore, the name of God is Jesus. We pray for God’s name, for his kingdom, for his will, for our needs, for our debts, for our debtors and for our deliverance because this is complete prayer. Jesus taught his disciples to pray for these seven things because they are the totality of all that is and should be in our hearts and mind.
