Which is the second commandment, of the ten, which God gave to Israel at Mount Sinai in the desert?
What is an Idol? An idol is a graven image hewn out of stone, carved from wood, or cast out of metal but an idol can also be anything that is sacred to a person. An idol defines a person’s self-worth; therefore, it is whatever becomes the controlling center of a person’s life.Exodus 20:4-6 (NASB)“You shall not make for yourself an idol, or any likeness of what is in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the water under the earth. You shall not worship them or serve them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, on the third and the fourth generations of those who hate Me, but showing lovingkindness to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.
What defines you? What is the controlling center of your life? Is it the one true God, revealed to men in the word of God, and in the person of Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, or is it something else? What is it that you think about the most?
